OTTAWA -- Senayit Belay graduated from St.Patrick’s High School where she excelled in mathematics and science. She was an active member of her school, often volunteering to tutor fellow-students in science-related courses and undertaking the responsibility for organizing activities during Black History Month.
Her community interests led to her appointment as a Child Program Co-ordinator at the YMCA-YWCA and her participation in REACH, an organization supporting individuals with disabilities. Her commitment to community outreach extended beyond Ottawa to Ethiopia where, during a summer visit, she assisted patients in a hospital and at an orphanage.
Senayit began an Honours program in Physiology at McGill University in preparation for Medicine, which is her ultimate career goal.

OTTAWA -- Kimberley Nelson maintained exceptional grades during her career at Notre Dame High School. As well, she immersed herself in school affairs and held the position of Student Trustee on the Ottawa –Carleton Catholic School Board for 2003-2004.There ,she became the voice of the students, representing fourteen high schools and providing liaison between Administration and students.
Throughout her high school years, she was also actively involved in volunteer work in her community, tutoring and mentoring children at the Caldwell Family Centre in the after-school program, participating in the Voice for Youth development project of the National Capital Alliance on Race Relations , contributing an article on Homelessness to the Ottawa Citizen and speaking in the Senate on Child’s Day on the importance of school and community involvement.
Kimberley studies Political Science at the University of Ottawa with future plans of pursuing a career in Law.
