To qualify an applicant must:

• Be a Black Canadian Student graduating from a high school in the city of Ottawa.
• Be admissible to a recognized Canadian university.
• Demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
• Demonstrate leadership in community involvement.

Required documents:

• A two-page essay explaining why this scholarship is important to the applicant and how the applicant will satisfy the eligibility criteria (e.g., academic achievement, school and community involvement, extra-curricular activities, education plans and financial need).
• A photocopy of the applicant’s latest official transcript of six Grade 12 courses.
• A letter of recommendation from a teacher/guidance counsellor in the current academic year.
• Proof of community work.
• Proof of Canadian citizenship.
• A detailed statement indicating the amount of money expected from various sources (e.g. family/relatives, personal savings, employment, loans and scholarships).
